In the past years nuclear reaction model calculations have been increasingly used in nuclear data evaluation. A brief review is given on recent developments of applied interest in the field of models and their parametrisation. The following models are considered: the optical model, the compound nucleus model, direct reaction models and phenomenoligical preequilibrium models.
