About “Independent” and “Cumulative” fission yields

“Independent” and “Cumulative” yields are included in fission yield data of JENDL-4.0 Fission Yield Sublibrary and JENDL FP Fission Yields Data File (JENDL/FPY-2011).
The independent yields mean expected numbers of each produced nuclide at the moment that fission is occured. The total expected number is just 2 if fission was only 2-body fission, however, the number is a bit larger than 2 because actual fission yield data is included light nuclides produced by 3-body fission.
The cumulative yields are the numbers include expected amount of products from parent nuclides by (almost β) decay, and the total number is larger than 2. In the case of U-235 fission yields by thermal neutron incidence in JENDL-4.0 Fission Yield Sublibrary, total independent yield is about 2.0 and total cumulative yield is 8.4.
