SYSTEMATICS OF AVERAGE NEUTRON CAPTURE CROSS SECTIONS AROUND 25 keV

The systematic behavior of average neutron capture cross sections around 25 keV has been studied. These cross sections demonstrate the shell effect clearly. A simplified and parameterized formula of
σ = ClAC2UC3aC4exp (C5√aU)

was used to fit the measured data by the least squares method and the five parameters were obtained.
